Chakras are spinning vortices of energy.

They form the basis of the ancient Indian healing system which works on your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self.

Chakra comes from the Sanskrit, meaning wheel or disk.

Each chakra point governs certain areas of the body, you can also imagine each chakra to be a flower, they come in seven different coloUrs and resonate at different frequencies.

There are many chakras in the body, but most healers look at the seven major ones. Here are the seven chakras below with their simple break downs.

This chakra has four petals, around a square containing a down-ward-pointing triangle.

In this image I used garnet crystal as this is associated with this chakra. Garnet also helps to purify and balance energy, its also a good protective stone and was used as a protective talisman.

Other crystals used for the base chakra are Agate, Bloodstone, Tiger’s eye Ruby, Hematite, Onyx, Smokey quartz and Rose quartz.

In this illustration I used a photo I took of the sun shinning through the branches of a Egyptian cedar wood tree. Cedar wood incense/oil can be used for meditating on the root chakra.

Brow Chakra. (Anja)

Third Eye Chakra - Ajna ; 6th Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra transcends time. It is located in the brain, at the brow, above the base of the nose. The gift of this chakra is seeing - both inner and outer worlds.

The energy of this chakra allows us to experience clear thought as well as gifts of spiritual contemplation and self reflection.

Through the gift of seeing we can internalize the outer world and with symbolic language we can externalize the inner world.

The energy of Ajna allows us to access our inner guidance that comes from the depths of our being. It allows us to cut through illusion and to access deeper truths - to see beyond the mind, beyond the words.

The "way of the third eye" is seeing everything as it is from a point of "witness" or "observer", or from simply being mindful - moment by moment.

It means examining self-limiting ideas and developing wisdom that comes from a perspective that transcends the duality of good or bad, black or white. It means seeing and helping others to see the deeper meanings of the situations in their lives.

Sixth chakra is holistic in nature. When this chakra is fully activated, both hemispheres of the brain function in synchrony. The right hemisphere's creativity and synthetic thinking is integrated and balanced with left hemisphere's logical and analytical thinking.

The Third Eye is not only the seat of wisdom, but also a seat of conscience. This is where you not only see what is going on, but you also know what it means. This is where your sense of justice and your ethics originate.

When your third eye is open, you not only see but you also understand.

Meaning - To perceive to know Ability to "see" other than the eyes, emotional intelligence, intuition, wisdom (sixth sense).

The Brow Chakra also called the third eye is the center of perception and command.

It directs our sight and everyday awareness of the world. Our consciousness is located here. "We" are here. We relate to ourselves through this chakra.

We see ourselves and the external world, interpret what we see and are aware of ourselves and the world through the brow chakra. The brow chakra interprets the world - our inner world, and the world that comes into the body, primarily through sight.

It is the code breaker, the pattern maker, and the seat of understanding.

It balances the important and the unimportant, sorting meaning from data and impressions. It commands the energy flow within the body.

When the brow chakra is in balance we see clearly and understand what we see. We are able to interpret visual cues and our perception is high. Our thoughts and internal communications with ourselves are healthy and vibrant.

We have perspective on events and ideas. We are open to new ideas, dreams, and visions. We can be quietly observant, and reflective. We can control the flow of energy within all the chakras.

When the [[brow chakra] is out of balance, the whole organism suffers. Without perspective, nothing makes sense.

You will be confused, have difficulty seeing things clearly, and knowing what is important and what is not.

You will not have command of your body or your thoughts. You will suffer headaches, ear aches and have vision problems. You will be unable to work through problems or puzzles.

Things just won't make sense. You will be disoriented and confused.

The dark blue/purple crystals of indigo are used to treat imbalances of the brow chakra.

This is the color of an empty sky, of solitude and reflection. It is a quiet color, one of mystery and wisdom and judgment.

Meditation is a very important part of balancing the brow chakra.

In fact regular meditation is essential for maintain its health. Indigo crystals should be held during any meditation aimed at assuring the free flow of energy within the brow chakra.

Quiet reflection with a small indigo crystal placed on the forehead will help focus the wisdom of the indigo ray on the brow chakra releasing any blockages.
