Buddhism and Hinduism Prophecies

Let us analyze the prophecies of Hinduism:

“When the practices taught by the Vedas and the institutes of law shall nearly have ceased, and the close of the Kali age shall be soon,

a portion of that divine being who exists of his own spiritual nature in the character of Brahma, and who is the beginning and the end, and who comprehends all things, shall descend upon the earth….

He will then reestablish righteousness upon earth; and the minds of those who live at the end of the Kali age shall be awakened, and shall be as pellucid as crystal.

The men who are thus changed by virtue of that peculiar time shall be as the seeds of human beings, and shall give birth to a race that shall follow the laws of the Krita age, the Age of Purity.

As it is said, “When the sun and moon, and the lunar asterism Tishya, and the planet Jupiter, are in one mansion, the Krita age shall return.” - Vishnu Purana 4.24 (Hinduism)

It is said in the Hinduism that the Kalki (the savior) riding a white horse (similar to the second coming of Christ according the Bible which also says that the savior will come riding a white horse) will end the darkness age of the goddess of destruction Kali and restore the age of purity of Krita.

We can see that this prophecy says that the Messiah will come when the evil reaches its peak, at the end of Kali age (or the age of the darkness). It also says that the coming of the new age of purity will arrive when the sun and the moon gather together.

The era of Kali finished officially in 1948 according to the Buddhism and with no doubt this is one of the more disturbed times of the human history. In the 20thcentury, along with two world wars, several revolutions and local conflicts happened; plus crimes, terrorism, corruption, diseases and moral decadence. This is for sure the time described in this prophecy.

Also let's see what Islam and Judaism say in their scriptures on the last days:

“Society will be engulfed by ravaging wars, overflowing with havoc and devastation.

In the beginning the conquerors will feel very happy over their successes and booties gathered therein,

but it will all have a very sad end. I warn you of the wars of the future, you have no idea of the enormity of evil which they will carry.” Nahjul Balagha, Khutba 141 (Islam)

“With the footprints heralding the Messiah, presumption shall increase and dearth reach its height; the vine shall yield its fruit but the wine shall be costly; and the empire shall fall into heresy and there shall be none to utter reproof.

The academies shall be given to fornication, and the wisdom of the scribes shall become insipid, and they that shun sin shall be deemed contemptible, and truth shall nowhere be found.

Children shall shame the elders, and the elders shall rise up before the children.

The face of this generation shall be [brazen] as the face of a dog, and the son will not be put to shame by his father. On whom can we stay ourselves? On our Father in heaven.” Mishnah, Sota 9.15 (Judaism)

And also let’s see what Buddhism says about the last days of humankind:

“There will come a time, brethren, when... immoral courses of action will flourish excessively; there will be no word for moral among humans-far less any moral agent.

Among such humans, homage and praise will be given to them who lack filial and religious piety, and show no respect to the head of the clan;

just as today homage and praise are given to the filial-minded, to the pious and to them who respect the heads of their clans.

Among such humans, there will be no such thoughts of reverence as are a bar to intermarriage with mother, or mother’s sister, or teacher’s wife, or father’s sister-in-law.

The world will fall into promiscuity, like goats and sheep, fowls and swine, dogs and jackals.

Among such humans, keen mutual enmity will become the rule, keen ill will, keen animosity,

passionate thought seven of killing, in a mother towards her child, in a child towards its mother,

in a father towards his child and a child towards its father, in brother to brother, in brother to sister, in sister to brother.

Just as a sportsman feels towards game that he sees, so will they feel.” Digha Nikaya iii.71-72 (Buddhism)

“The evil age to come, living beings will decrease in good qualities and increase in utter arrogance, coveting gain and honors, developing their evil qualities, and being far removed from deliverance.” Lotus Sutra 13 (Buddhism)

In approximately 500 BC, Buddha (Siddharta Gautama) ‘turned the Wheel of Dharma’.

He explained that the wheel would turn every 500 years and there will be 5 turnings (500 years X 5= 2500 years). Buddha said each revolution would result in a decline of the Dharma (spiritual truth).

He said the final turn (around 2000AD) would be a period of chaos and strife leading to a new phase of consciousness of the planet and an unprecedented change in mankind.

Lucius Caecilius Firmianus Lactantius (240-320AD), a Christian apologist of the fourth century wrote on the last days of humankind:

“Therefore, since all the works of God were completed in six days, the world must continue in its present state through six ages, that is, six thousand years.

For the great day of God is limited by a circle of a thousand years, as the prophet shows, who says “In Thy sight, Oh Lord, a thousand years areas one day.”

And as God labored during those six days in creating such great works, so His religion and truth must labor during these six thousand years, while wickedness prevails and bears rule.

And again, since God,having finished His works, rested the seventh day and blessed it, at the end of the six thousandth year (year 2000) all wickedness must be abolished from the earth, and righteousness reign for a thousand years;

and there must be tranquility and rest from the labors which the world now has long endured.”

Irenaeus (115?-320), Bishop of Lyons, wrote also about the last days in his writings “Adversus Haeresis”(“Detection and Overthrow of the False Knowledge”):

“And God brought to a conclusion upon the sixth day the works that he had made; and God rested upon the seventh day from all His works (Gen. 2:2). This is an account of the things formerly created, as it is a prophecy of what is to come.

For the day of the Lord is as a thousand years; and in six days created things were completed: it is evident, therefore, that they will come to an end at the sixth thousand year (year 2000).”

Also see 2 Timothy 3.1-4 in the New Testament of the Bible:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive,

disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control brutal, not lovers of good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God

Siddharta Gautama, Buddha 2500 years ago in India, foresaw his second coming. Buddha of the second coming is called Metteya (meaning “friend”).

In Japan it is called of Miroku and in Korea of Miruk.

Buddha foresaw that his return would happen a little before the Kali age finish (in other words, before 1948), that he would have thousands of followers and that he would teach the true Law:

    “Listen attentively with one heart.

A man whose spirit shines brightly, a man whose mind is completely unified, a man whose virtue excels everyone—such a man will truly appear in this world.

When he preaches precious laws, all the people will totally be satisfied as if the thirsty drink sweet drops of rain from heaven.

And each and everyone will attain the path of liberation from struggles.” Sutra of the Great Accomplishment of the Maitreya (Buddhism)

“I will tell you, Sariputra; listen to my speech.

In this auspicious aeon Three leaders there have been: Kakusandha, Konagamana, and the leader Kassapa too.

I am now the perfect Buddha; and there will be Maitreya too before this same auspicious aeon (Kali age) runs to the end of its years.” Anagata-vamsa (Buddhism)

“In those days, brethren, there will arise in the world an Exalted One named Metteya.

He will be an Arahant, Fully Awakened, abounding wisdom and goodness, happy, with knowledge of the worlds, unsurpassed as a guide to mortals willing to be led, a teacher for gods and men, an Exalted One, a Buddha, even as I am now.

He, by himself, will thoroughly know and see, as it were face to face, this universe, with its worlds of the spirits, its Brahmas and its Maras, and its world of recluses and brahmins, of princes and peoples, even as I now, by myself, thoroughly know and see them.

The Law, lovely in its origin, lovely in its progress, lovely in its consummation, will he proclaim, both in the spirit and in the letter; the higher life will he make known, in all its fullness and in all its purity,

even as I do now. He will be accompanied by a congregation of some thousands of brethren, even as I am now accompanied by a congregation of some hundreds of brethren.” Digha Nikaya iii.76, Chakkavatti Sihanada Suttanta (Buddhism)

“Sariputra, the great general of the doctrine, most wise and resplendent, from compassion for the world asked the Lord:

‘Sometime ago you have spoken to us of the future Buddha, who will lead the world at a future period, and who will bear the name of Maitreya. I would now wish to hear more about his powers and miraculous gifts.

Tell me, 0 best of men, about them!’”

“He, supreme among men, will emerge from her right side, as the sun shines forth when it has prevailed over a bank of clouds.

No more polluted by the impurities of the womb than a lotus by drops of water,he will fill this entire Triple world with his splendor.”

“He will either be a universal monarch, or a supreme Buddha.

But as Maitreya grows up, the Dharma (universal truth) will increasingly take possession of him, and he will reflect that all that lives is bound to suffer.”

“And he will win his enlightenment the very same day that he has gone forth into the homeless life.”

“And then, a supreme sage, he will with a perfect voice preach the true Dharma, which is auspicious and removes all ill, i.e.

the fact of ill, the origination of ill, the transcending of ill, and the holy eightfold path which brings security and leads to Nirvana.

He will explain thefour Truths, because he has seen that generation, in faith, ready for them, and those who have listened to his Dharma will thereupon make progress in the religion.

They will be assembled in a park full of beautiful flowers, and his assembly will extend over a hundred leagues.

Under Maitreya’s guidance, hundreds of thousands of living beings shall enter upon a religious life.”

“And when he has disciplined in his true Dharma hundreds and hundreds of millions of living beings, then that leader will at last enter Nirvana.

And after the great sage has entered Nirvana, his true Dharma still endures for another ten thousand years.” Maitreyavyakarana (Buddhism)
